Robert LaRose
About
Bob LaRose is a retired communication professor from Michigan State University. He has a slow-boiling watercolor avocation. In 30 years of academic globe-trotting Bob paused for hundreds of 4×6 watercolor sketches and digital photos that he developed into full-size works. Current favorite subjects are the ghost towns, flora, fauna, and inspiring views of the San Juan Mountains. He exhibits watercolors throughout the community via the Montrose Center for Arts galleries and MCA’s Art in Motion program.
Bob’s art training consists of an evening extension course at the University of Hawaii and annual visits from from his factory town’s District Art Teacher (who tossed depleted watercolor palettes on our desks before retiring to the teachers’ lounge for a smoke).
He is a signature member of the Western Colorado Watercolor Society and proud of the three dozen ribbons he has won from various Western Slope art shows. Especially the Grand Champion award from the 2025 Montrose County Fair Art Show.
