MCA Artist Benefits

Whether you’re a new artist just discovering your style or a seasoned professional looking to expand to a new market, MCA has opportunities to help you grow, create, share, sell your art, and more!.

  • MCA members who are artists are welcome to participate in Members only shows and to exhibit their artwork in the Ponderosa and Cottonwood Galleries
  • Artists who are members gain a 10% income advantage over non-members when works they have exhibited are purchased
  • All MCA Artists can have their own web page on the MCA website that includes their name, an artist bio and photo, and samples of their artwork, along with links to their personal art website and social media if wanted.
  • Artist members are also eligible to participate in Art in Motion to have their pieces shown in various businesses around town.
  • Options are available for artists to teach classes, participate in Art Talks and the City of Montrose ART CRAWL, work with other artists for Monday Morning Paint sessions and to meet and share ideas during annual events.

Other ways artists can gain a sense of belonging in our art community is to assist at the reception desk, work with gallery teams to plan and display art exhibits, participate in our events, fundraisers and committees and become a member of the board to influence the future direction of our organization.

How You Can Become an MCA Artist

To be an MCA Artist you must be a member. Because we are a volunteer, non-profit organization, as an Member, you will be asked to volunteer where you can: help set up or take down shows, welcome visitors during events, sit at the front desk to answer questions from visitors in the gallery and more. As a volunteer, your involvement can be flexible and made easy to fit your own schedule.

While we primarily cater to the Western Slope artist community, we also allow exhibitors from all over the country!

  • Artists must complete a form with their contact and art submission info, including digital images and pricing. MCA will process each submission, schedule a date for the approved item(s) to be delivered to MCA, and MCA will take each approved item into their inventory.
  • All items will be labeled, coded, and priced according to the MCA inventory system.
  • Artists with work in the MCA Marketplace are expected to replace items as they are sold and keep their inventory refreshed.
  • MCA will conduct all sales, collect sales tax and pay and report all sales information to the appropriate agencies.
  • The commission schedule is 70% of the sale to an MCA Member Artist and 60% to non-members.
