on the western slope and supporting the activities of MCA. Growing up, Kim’s mother taught her to knit and made sure she learned to sew, and as a 4H member entering her creations in the summer 4H fair.
Kim’s interest in weaving comes from watching her grandmother weaving rag rugs and other home accessories, and actually weaves on the same 1930’s era floor loom her
grandmother used. She also weaves on a 5 ft. triangle loom, 8 shaft 13” table loom, and 21” rigid heddle table loom. Kim loves to weave with textured and colorful natural fiber yarns
to create table runners, rugs, scarves, and other wearable accessories. While living in San Diego, she completed her first weaving class and became a member of the San Diego Creative Weavers Guild. Kim and her husband moved to Montrose in 2018, where she enjoys having her own weaving and textile studio.
As a member of the San Juan Weavers Guild (SJWG) in the Montrose area, her skills have expanded as a weaver and textile artist. Kim is thankful for the talented members of SJWG who share their knowledge and expertise.
