Connie discovered her artistic interests as part of her transition into retirement. Her professional life was as a librarian, first in public libraries and then 22 years in a high school in Houston, TX. When she became an empty nester, she started taking an occasional art class. In 2015, she retired when her twin grandchildren were born and she moved to Austin, TX to help with babies. As the leisure time increased so did the interest in art. When she took a watercolor class in January 2024, it became a focus.

Now Connie paints in watercolor almost every day. She loves to move among the subjects of florals, landscapes, birds, animals and anything that expands her skills. A favorite subject looks back to the days when she was a university student and spent a year studying in France. She paints a series from old black and white photographs of Montmartre, the artist section of Paris where the Impressionists lived. In October 2025, she moved to Montrose, Colorado and not a day passes without her finding some beautiful new subject to paint.
