Do your colors fall flat when painting in acrylics? Do your paintings start to become muddy and lose definition?
In this class we will learn how colors interact, how to mix paint to a specific thickness and color, and even why different colors placed together can cause perspective to change and even create a third color. We will also learn different painting techniques using different sized and shaped brushes..
An image will be provided, and each student will begin to understand how to create an original piece of art, using their own insights and abilities. The goal is not necessarily to come away with a finished piece of art, but for the participants to gather knowledge and take this information with them to continue to create original artwork on their own.
Instructor
Wayne received his BA from Buena Vista University in Iowa in 1979. In addition to fine art, he has a background in commercial art and illustration. He has had several one-person shows at galleries in the Southwest. His paintings have also been represented in group shows and galleries in Colorado, Utah, Texas and New Mexico. From 2007 to 2012 he worked primarily as a commission artist, adding to both individual and corporate collections. His artwork is influenced by the rural settings in which he grew up and worked. The effect of humans on the landscape and the random patterns created by a mixture of agriculture and nature can be seen in his expansive pieces.
