This class is 2 consecutive weekends of 2 & 1/2 hours classes for beginning watercolor. The first class will be learning skill building techniques to understand the properties and wonders of watercolors to paint a simple watercolor landscape. Second week will include the next level of skills combined with the previous class to culminate in an amazing floral painting.
Instructor
Caryl Brown’s perspectives and the essence of who she is are rooted in her roles as mother, educator, and athlete. Caryl recently moved back to Salt Lake City after nine years in Montrose, Colorado. She traveled extensively in the Americas and also experienced life overseas for five years in Izmir, Turkey. Caryl’s love of outdoor adventure, athletic challenges, and travel have been limitless sources of artistic inspiration.
A native of Colorado, Caryl’s love of Art took flight during her time raising her son in Montrose. She earned a BFA at the University of Utah in Drawing and Painting, and loves portraiture, figure, watercolor and recently in oil. Caryl has exhibited at the LIV Sotheby’s Gallery in Telluride; a dual show at the Ridgway Library; was a participating artist at the Ridgway Rendezvous, Harvest Festival in Paonia, and the Winter Festival in Palisade. Caryl is also passionate about her work as a Teaching Artist, encouraging young people to believe in themselves and discover our world of beauty through art.
