The Montrose Center for Arts proudly presents its 2nd annual The Holiday Marketplace of Art. Western Colorado artists will brighten the season with their offerings of fine art pieces for the holidays, making perfect gifts for family and friends. The exhibit will run from November 18 through January 10.
The Cottonwood and Ponderosa Rooms will open on November 10 with amazing gifts, from jewelry to pottery, from cards to paintings, and so much more. Then on November 17, the Main Gallery will showcase a vast array of 12 x 12 paintings for our 2nd Annual Winter Fundraiser.
MCA invites you to stop by our 2nd Thursday receptions – November 12 and again on December 10, 5 – 7 p.m. at MCA, located at 205 E. Main Street in Montrose, to share seasonal treats and beverages, explore the gallery, and shops for those special holiday gifts.

2nd Annual Winter Fundraiser
Art Drop Off Date for Fundraiser Art: During gallery hours between Nov 1 and Nov 14
Take Down and Pickup Art From Previous Show: Jan 2, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Requirements for 12 x 12 canvas or cradle board
Please make sure the edges of your work are finished/painted
Do not add hangers or wires to the back of these pieces
Unsold items to be picked up on Jan 8 or become property of MCA for future sale
There is no online submission process for these pieces of art
TABLE ART (In the Main Gallery)
There are 4 tables available for 8 members who are not already exhibiting in the marketplace — each member gets ½ a table @ 18” x 36”. Table displays to be a maximum 24 inches in height.
For members who are exhibiting in the marketplace already, you may switch out your materials for holiday themed works or leave what you have there.
Requirements for Table Art
- Must be a member to contribute to the Member Rooms and Marketplace.
- No fees for tables or wall art
- Everything has to have our barcodes, which will be generated on dropoff day
- MCA takes a 30% commission on all pieces sold
- If you already have marketplace items in the gallery those items can stay
- Every item MUST have a tag for a barcode or some place on your product for a barcode sticker
- Art has to be handmade by artists. Nothing manufactured will be allowed
- The Gallery Team reserves the right to jury submitted art for content and space limitations.

Restocking:
The Gallery Team will restock once per week throughout the show. They will notify artists when restock is needed. The artists can NOT restock on their own due to the barcode.
Volunteer Requirement:
In lieu of wall space fees, we hope artists will volunteer to be there at one of the following events: Small business Saturday, 2nd Thursdays. All marketplace vendors should check in on these days to ensure their displays remain full.
WALL ART (to be held in the Cottonwood and Ponderosa Galleries)
Art Drop Off Date: November 7, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Requirements for Wall Art:
- No theme … can be any type of artwork and does not need to seasonal
- MCA members artists only – no fee to hang in the member rooms
- All artwork should have a maximum dimension of 36” on the long side, including the frame
- Artwork must be ready to hand with wire, no sawtooth hangers
- Up to three entries per person
- MCA retains 30% commission on sold pieces
- There is no online submission process for this exhibit. Just bring your art in on November 13.
- The Gallery Team reserves the right to jury submitted art for content and space limitations
SILENT AUCTION ART
Art Drop Off Date: Nov 1 – 13, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- For this exhibit, MCA will also accept donations of any kind of art for our silent auction.
- It doesn’t have to be an original piece of art you made, but it can be art you picked up during your life and would like to pass along.
- All artwork must have proper wire hangers to be accepted
- Artwork must be 48″ maximum dimension including the frame
- There is no submission process for these pieces, so just drop them off by Nov 13 or any time before so long as you make sure the receptionist knows they are for the winter silent auction and can label them appropriately
- Donation forms are available at the reception desk and must be filled at the time of drop off for the art to be eligible for the auction
- Please limit donations to 2 works of art
