Be sure to come down and see where our families came from and read a few fascinating stories pulled from our family history.

We also want to know your story so we put up an interactive world map for you to write your family names, stories, and even leave photos of ancestors. Be a part of the show and help us fill the map and join the Montrose art community.

“ORIGIN STORIES: The Roots of Our Art”
Showing May 6th - May 30th at the Montrose Center for Arts.

What’s your origin story? Where did your ancestors come from? What brought them to America? What were their journeys like?

Although the countries, cultures, and native languages may differ, today we can see the common threads of hope, opportunity, joy, heartache, and hardship woven through all our family stories. Whether their journeys were 200 years ago or 2 months ago, we are all influenced by those who came before us.

Join the Montrose Center for Arts during the month of May to explore the origin stories of our artists and imagine how those stories live on in our art.

To kick off this show, the public is invited to meet the artists on May 8th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm during the newly established 2nd Thursday Montrose Art Crawl event. Grab some food and drink while you enjoy talking to the artists.

We also encourage you to take a moment to add your own origin story to our community collage. Pick up a marker to write or doodle your story … or bring copies of photos and mementos of your family and ancestors to add to our canvas. Help us represent the richness of our collective Montrose roots.

“Origin Stories: The Roots of Our Art” will run through the end of May and can also be viewed during regular business hours, Tuesday through Saturday, from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
We are located at 250 E. Main St, in downtown Montrose.
